Outtakes with Daniel Snyder

Dan Patrick calls an audible with Daniel Snyder

DP: Earliest memory as a Redskin fan?
DS: My father took me to my first game in 1971, and I fell in love with the Redskins and the NFL right then. I was hooked. And we didn't even win that game.
DP: You've amassed enough wealth to buy your favorite football team at a very young age. What one word describes how you did that?
DS: Dan, hold on for one second, I apologize, one second. (Pause) Sorry Dan, I'm watching practice ... Umm, what one word? I would say ... unbelievable.

Blueprints are for Harvard MBAs. I dropped out of college. I don't have a five-year plan. ... I don't have a blueprint for almost any of my businesses.

DP: Were you concerned about being viewed as being greedy charging admission to the preseason?
DS: Not at all. Not for the amount of money we've invested and the quality of what we've given the fans. I think fans have been 100% satisfied.
DP: Are you trying to buy a Super Bowl?
DS: I don't think there's such a thing. I'm guilty of being aggressive.

DP: Signing Deion Sanders -- was that a football thing or just to rub it in the Cowboys' face?
DS: That was a football thing all the way. It was the concept of winning and he's a winner and we want winners.

DP: Did you really helicopter onto the practice field?
DS: Done that a few times but. . .Oh! There you go, beautiful pass! Sorry.
DP: You're not going to live very long if you're worried about ...
DS: I'm not like the media says, am I?
DP: No, not at all.
DS: I'm just a young target. It's kind of fun though.

DP: Will I see you down on the sidelines like Jerry Jones?
DS: No. And you won't see me watching film with the coaching staff and doing what others do. I'm not interested. Dan hold on one second. (Pause). Oh! That's my buddy Pepper Rogers. Great guy.

DP: What do you think about celebration in the end zone?
DS: Hold on one second ... oh, there he goes! Oh, catch the ball!!
DP: It's just the preseason.
DS: I know, I love it.
DP: What about end-zone celebration?
DS: I think that to a certain degree we should have some celebration, but we should also maintain our professionalism.

DP: Do you have a blueprint for what you're trying to do as an owner?
DS: No. Blueprints are for Harvard MBAs. I dropped out of college. I don't have a five-year plan. There's a five-year budget for the cap purpose, but I don't have a blueprint for almost any of my businesses. Oh, look at that -- beautiful pass. There's Bruce, he's in good shape.
DP: Bruce Smith?
DS: Yes.
DP: You've got a lot of toys, there you know that?
DS: These aren't toys. This is a team full of great people.
