| | CHICAGO -- The defending MLS champion Chicago Fire will
be without Josh Wolff for the remainder of the season after the
forward tore the ACL in his left knee while training with the
United States under-23 national team.
Wolff, the only player to appear in all 28 of Chicago's games
this season, accumulated 10 goals and two assists for 22 points.
He is second in goals on the team behind Ante Razov and recently
made his first appearance for the U.S. national team against
Jamaica on Sept. 8.
"All of us feel bad for him," said Fire coach Bob Bradley,
whose team is in third place in the Western Conference. "We are
sorry that Josh had this injury at this time, he is a tremendous
person and player and we all have respect for him both on and
off the field."
Wolff suffered the injury on Tuesday while practicing shootouts
at the end of a training session in Lake Forest, Ill.
He is expected to be sidelined for sixth months but is expected to
return in time for the start of the 2000 MLS season.
