Galaxy scores four goals in 12 minutes

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Mauricio Cienfuegos had two goals and an assist as the Los Angeles Galaxy beat Kansas City 5-1 Saturday to close the gap between them and the first-place Wizards in MLS's Western Division to four points.

The Galaxy (11-7-7) scored four goals in just over 12 minutes of the second half.

Cienfuegos scored into the upper corner of the net in the 70th minute, then scored with a hard shot past goalie Tony Meola on a pass from Luis Hernandez in the 78th minute.

Paul Caliguri scored on a backheel pass from Hernandez in the 74th minute, and Hernandez created a shot for himself to beat Meola in the 83rd minute.

Forward Sasha Victorine beat two defenders to score Los Angeles' first goal in the 21st minute.

Mo Johnston scored on a header in the 75th minute for the only score for the Wizards (13-6-5).
