Rhine fires Burn past Revs

FOXBORO, Mass. (AP) -- Bobby Rhine scored one goal and set up a second to give the Dallas Burn a 2-1 victory over the New England Revolution Wednesday night.

In the 21st minute, Revolution defender Mauricio Wright failed to control a cross from Mark Santel. The ball went off Wright's chest to the feet of Rhine, who drilled the ball in from about 10 yards. It was Rhine's first goal of the year.

In the 67th minute, Rhine took a pass from Oscar Pareja and sent a cross to the left side that a sliding Jason Kreis deflected into the goal for his 11th tally of the year, giving the Burn (10-11-4) a 2-0 lead.

The Revolution (9-10-5) pulled within one in the 87th minute. Jamar Beasley stripped Jorge Rodriguez in midfield and Wolde Harris gathered the loose ball and ran in alone to beat goalkeeper Matt Jordan from 10 yards.

The game featured a number of missed chances.

In the fourth minute, Revolution defender Joey Franchino headed a shot by Chad Deering off the line.

Only seconds before halftime, John Harkes passed to Jose Luis Morales on the right side only to have the Spaniard be denied by Jordan who deflected the 15-yard shot.
