Meola ties MLS record with 11th shutout

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Kansas City's Tony Meola tied a Major League Soccer record with his 11th shutout of the season as the Wizards and Dallas Burn played a scoreless tie Wednesday night.

Meola tied the mark set by the Burn's Matt Jordan and Los Angeles' Kevin Hartman. Kansas City has not allowed a goal in its last 640 minutes at home.

The tie moves the West-leading Wizards to 10-2-4. Dallas is 6-8-3, including 0-6-2 on the road.

Kansas City took 17 shots, with Jordan stopping four on goal. Dallas took just three shots, only one on goal. The Wizards held Dallas' high-scoring duo of Jason Kries and Ariel Graziani to a combined one shot on goal.

The Wizards played without leading scorer Miklos Molnar, who is competing for Denmark in the European Championship, and Chris Henderson, who is out with a strained hip and shoulder.
