CHICAGO (AP) _ Josh Wolff's pair of goals rallied Chicago past Miami 2-1 Wednesday night, the Fire's fifth victory in seven games and the Fusion's third straight loss.

Chicago (8-6-1), playing before a crowd of only 5,288, extended its Central Division lead to four standings points over the Tampa Bay Mutiny.

Miami (4-6-4) went ahead after 12 minutes on Jim Rooney's goal.

But Wolff brought Chicago back, tying the game in the 33rd minute thanks to a misplay by the normally solid Fusion defense. Miami defender Leo Cullen lost control of the ball, allowing Wolff to pounce on it 30 yards out and speed in alone on goal.

Wolff hit the winner with seven minutes left after a spectacular run by Peter Nowak.

Nowak sliced through midfield and broke clear near the top of the box. He faked a pass to Dema Kovalenko on the right and slid the ball over on the left side to Wolff, whose shot beat Miami goalkeeper Nick Rimando.

Chicago has scored an MLS-high 34 goals in 15 games, including five goals in the team's last two outings without league-leading scorer Ante Razov. Razov, midfielder Chris Armas and defender C.J. Brown are all playing with the U.S. national squad in the U.S. Cup.

The Fusion have allowed eight goals in their last three games, after yielding just 10 in the first 11 games.

The teams will meet again Saturday at the Fusion.
