BOX SCORE
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) _ Robert Warzycha redeemed himself with a free kick in overtime as Columbus beat San Jose 2-1 Saturday night before 16,095 spectators. Warzycha, whose hand-ball led to San Jose's tying goal in regulation, was fouled by Esmundo Rodriguez about 30 yards from the goal. Warzycha lifted the direct kick over a wall of five defenders to beat Earthquakes goaltender Joe Cannon. The Crew (1-1) took a 1-0 lead in the 85th minute on Brian West's left-footed shot off a deflection from Dante Washington. The Earthquakes (0-1) tied it in injury time at the end of regulation on Ronald Cerritos' penalty kick, which was awarded when Warzycha used his arm to deflect a San Jose shot.
