Part 2: Ask the Manager By Jim Caple Page 2 |
Ask Joe Torre
Hey, kids! Unsure how to tell your close friend that you only have one ticket to the All-Star Game? Uncertain about the best way to respond to a paternity
suit? Cap'n Jimmy's etiquette authority, Yankees manager Joe Torre, explains all!
My fiancé and I want to have a small wedding but his parents are making the situation unbearable. They say that we not only have to invite all my fiancé's relatives (aunts, uncles and cousins) to the wedding, we have to invite their friends and clients as well. We don't mind enlarging the invitation list, but my parents are of modest means and can't afford to pay for a large wedding. How can we keep the costs manageable without offending his parents? L. Lopes, Atlanta As Zim likes to say, weddings are the No. 1 cause of divorces in this country, and your case is a prime example. Planning a wedding is stressful enough without having to worry about alienating one set of parents and bankrupting the other. My solution? Forget your fiancé's parents. Invite Roger Clemens, Andy Pettitte, Derek Jeter, Jorge Posada, Mariano Rivera, Bernie Williams and Mike Stanton instead. Click here to go on to the third part of Cap'n Jimmy's Fun Page.
