In honor of Valentine's Day, Page 2 sought your help to find the most eligible bachelor and bachelorette in the sports world -- and perhaps produce a super couple.

But like elections and "Temptation Island," good intentions seem to go awry. We admit we had a tainted ballot for the men. Timberwolves forward Wally Szczerbiak was deleted from our first list -- for being married.

We were disappointed, but probably not as much as the 253 of you who voted for Szczerbiak. So we threw out all 1,756 spoiled ballots and started over, unlike those folks in Palm Beach County, Fla., and substituted Sacramento Kings forward Chris Webber.

But Webber proved to be no threat to Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter, who had at least 2,000 more votes than his closest competitor. Jeter won with 27.7 percent, followed by Texas Rangers shortstop Alex Rodriguez at 16.5 percent.
