Lemieux participates in full workout

Associated Press

PITTSBURGH -- Pittsburgh Penguins star Mario Lemieux participated in a full two-hour workout for the first time on Tuesday.

Previously, he participated in just the first half of the group's workouts.

The drills were non-contact, but were Lemieux's closest thing to a game since the start of training camp.

Lemieux, who turns 37 on Oct. 5, is attempting a comeback after missing most of last season because of a hip injury. He injured his hip Sept. 22, 2001, in a preseason game at Wilkes-Barre and played just 24 games in the regular season.
