Wells was given four games and Hedican three -- all without pay -- for separate incidents in the game.

Wells cross-checked Ottawa's Kevin Dineen after Dineen's elbow knocked out Florida's Cam Stewart. The blow came to the back of the head and drew Wells a match penalty for attempt to injure. The 6-foot-6, 223-pound Wells will forfeit $10,083 of his salary while sitting out.

Hedican's slash broke the wrist of Senators defenseman Sami Salo, who is expected to miss eight to 10 weeks. Hedican will forfeit $25,521 to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.

Dineen was suspended Monday for elbowing Stewart and already served the suspension by sitting out Sunday's 6-4 victory at Atlanta.

"Obviously, it's (a reaction) of great disappointment," Panthers general manager Bryan Murray told the Miami Herald. "I thought when I heard Kevin Dineen only got one, I thought our guys wouldn't get anything. I thought that's how it would play out."

Stewart will miss at least two weeks with a concussion.

Hedican slashed Salo from behind and broke his forearm as the Senators defenseman tried to finish a two-on-one.

Wells instigated a fight with Dineen late in the game with a high crosscheck in retaliation for Dineen's elbow of Stewart and a later slash of Florida's Scott Mellanby.

The players will miss Wednesday night's game in Edmonton, Friday's contest in Vancouver and Saturday's game in Calgary. Wells also will sit out next Wednesday in Atlanta.
