BOX SCORE
SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) -- Dominic Roussel wanted a chance for redemption. He got it sooner than he expected.
With Guy Hebert still suffering from neck spasms, the Anaheim goalie got the start against San Jose on Sunday, stopping 26 shots
as the Mighty Ducks beat the Sharks 1-0.

Teemu Selanne scored with 5:58 remaining for the game's only goal.
It was Roussel's first shutout of the season and seventh of his
career as Anaheim, winners of five of six, extended its road
winning streak to five.
Steve Shields made 27 saves as the Sharks were shut out for the first time this season. San Jose has lost three of its last four.
Roussel allowed five goals in relief of Hebert in Anaheim's 8-2
loss to the Phoenix Coyotes on Wednesday.
"Everybody was embarrassed by our last effort," Anaheim coach
Craig Hartsburg said. "We all responded, but the guy who responded
the most was the goaltender."
Selanne broke the scoreless tie after taking the puck from Steve
Rucchin, who won it in a battle with San Jose's Mike Rathje in the
Sharks corner. Selanne skated behind the net, then lifted the puck
over Shields, who stretched out in an attempt to stop the shot.
"I probably moved a little quick, but he made a nice shot," Shields said. "That late in the game, it's tough. He was in the right position to get the puck behind the net and create an opportunity."
Selanne has 64 points, including 31 goals, in 37 career games
against the Sharks, his most against any team.
"I try not to think about scoring, but when I get close I get a
nice feeling," Selanne said. "This was a big win and a relief.
The defense played great and Dom got a lot of confidence from
that."
The Sharks had a golden opportunity to tie the score with 1:53
left. Brad Stuart took a shot from the blue line that bounced off Roussel. Ron Sutter was in the slot for the rebound, but Roussel was able to make the save. Sutter was knocked off the puck by
Mighty Ducks defenseman Ruslan Salei, but landed hard on Roussel. After a delay, Roussel remained in the game to complete the
shutout.
"I wanted this, especially after that last game," Roussel
said. "To come back and get the win, it felt good. I really got
hit hard out there. I was out for a second or two and I woke up
with a horrible headache. It lasted a minute then suddenly went
away."
The Mighty Ducks, unbeaten (3-0-1) in their last four games at
San Jose, had several scoring opportunities early in the third
period. The best chance came with 11:30 minutes to play when
Selanne stole the puck on the San Jose blue line and played
give-and-go with Oleg Tverdovsky. Selanne drew Shields out, then took a shot that Shields deflected. Tverdovsky tried to slip the
rebound past Shields, who covered the puck.
Neither team had many opportunities to score through the first two periods. With three penalties called, two against Anaheim, even the power-play opportunities were few and far between.
For San Jose, Owen Nolan had a chance to score 10 minutes into the game on a straight shot from 10 feet away that Roussel stopped.
"You're not going to generate much against Anaheim," Sharks
coach Darryl Sutter said. "There's a reason they are the top
defensive team."
Roussel was also under pressure late in the second period.
Sharks left wing Alexander Korolyuk had a breakaway which he let go from about 10 feet out on which Roussel made a stick save.
Less than a minute later, San Jose's Vincent Damphousse came from behind the net to try and slip one by, but Roussel was again
up to the task.
