NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Rob Valicevic is playing well at a time when his Nashville Predators teammates are struggling. Valicevic scored a goal and had two assists Saturday night as the Predators upset the Detroit Red Wings 4-1 to end a team-record seven-game losing streak. "You like to see that. You just wish it would happen to you," Predators captain Tom Fitzgerald said. "Rob's in the right place at the right time." After scoring four goals in 19 NHL games before this season, the 28-year-old journeyman has nine goals in 25 games. Valicevic, the team's lowest-paid player, is tied for the club lead in goals with Cliff Ronning. "Things went well tonight, but it was a 20-man effort," Valicevic said. Kimmo Timonen and rookie David Legwand scored first-period goals for the Predators, who won for the first time since Nov. 18. Timonen took a pass from Scott Walker and scored from the left circle at 11:06. Legwand shot a back-hander past Ken Wregget from close range to give the Predators a 2-0 lead at 12:30. Steve Yzerman's 602nd career goal, a blast from the right circle that flew past Mike Dunham's stick, made it 2-1 at 11:18 of the second period. Just 14 seconds later, Predators defenseman Drake Berehowsky scored on a screened slap shot for Nashville. Valicevic made it 4-1 midway through the third, putting the rebound of Sebastien Bordeleau's shot by Wregget at 8:44. During their losing skid, the Predators were outscored 25-12. Dunham, the only Nashville goalie to win this season, foiled Slava Kozlov's wraparound attempt in the third period. It was his first career win over Detroit after four losses. The Red Wings, playing their second road game in two nights, were without six regulars including Sergei Fedorov, Darren McCarty, Kirk Maltby, and Kris Draper. Yzerman thought Berehowsky's goal was a major blow. "That one hurt because I thought the momentum had started to shift," Yzerman said. "Now it's 2-1. We're right back in it, and boom, they score. That was the backbreaker." Nashville coach Barry Trotz had a rare chance to celebrate. "Just snapping the streak is probably the biggest relief," Trotz said. "Then you consider it's against a division rival. What a better feeling could you want? It was fun."
