ATLANTA (AP) -- Curt Fraser wouldn't mind facing the Tampa Bay Lightning more often.

The Atlanta Thrashers coach saw Andrew Brunette and Matt Johnson score 10 seconds apart early in the third period to end a four-game losing streak with a 5-4 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Wednesday.

"I don't think there's a team in the league that moves the puck better than we do, but we just don't finish it," Fraser said. "They never quit. That's something we'll have to have all year. They found a way to come back and win this game tonight."

Atlanta, which managed just six goals on a recent four-game road trip, hadn't won since beating Tampa Bay 4-1 at Philips Arena Nov. 3. The Thrashers and Lightning battled to a 4-4 tie Oct. 16 in Florida.

Immediately after the faceoff that followed Brunette's goal at 3:11 of the third, Johnson scored the game-winner when he took a loose puck about 10 feet to the left of the crease and slipped it past Tampa Bay goaltender Dan Cloutier.

It was Johnson's first goal of the season and only the seventh of his six-year career. Cloutier stopped 26 shots.

Brunette was about 15 feet to the right of the goal when he took a pass from Nelson Emerson and fired the puck over Cloutier's left shoulder to tie the game at 3. Brunette's goal was his team-high ninth.

"Anytime you get down two goals, especially on your own rink, that's when you see the guys go out and try to mix it up," said Atlanta's Darryl Shannon, whose slapshot put Atlanta up 5-3 with 3:05 to play.

"I think the start of the third was one of the better periods we've played."

Backup goalie Scott Langkow stopped four of five shots in the third to get his first NHL win after replacing Damian Rhodes, who left after the second period with a mild right ankle sprain.

Rhodes stopped 16 of 19 shots before getting injured.

"I was ready to play," Langkow said. "(Rhodes) came up and told me he was done. I hope he's all right."

The Lightning, who lost for the third time in four games, fell to 0-2-1 against the expansion Thrashers. They made it 5-4 when Andreas Johansson scored with 2:12 to play.

After blowing a 2-0 first-period lead, the Lightning went ahead 3-2 on a power-play goal from Ben Clymer, his first of the season.

"I didn't like the turnovers," said Tampa coach Steve Ludzik. "We had one guy, I'll tell you who it was _ Stephen Guolla _ had 10 turnovers himself. Ten turnovers by one guy. That shouldn't be for a team. Half that shouldn't be (for) a team."

Emerson tied the game 2-2 with his third goal of the season at the 9:21 mark of the second.

Fredrik Modin, stationed just outside the center of the crease, put Tampa Bay ahead 1-0 at the 6:40 mark of the first by putting the puck past Rhodes.

Bruce Gardiner scored the second Tampa goal at the 9:22 mark of the first.
