PHOENIX (AP) -- Brett Hull's scoring slump appears to be over -- and so does the Dallas Stars early-season funk.

Hull's second goal of the third period, a power-play slap shot with 1:58 remaining, broke a tie and Dallas went on to a 6-4 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes on Friday night.

	Dallas' Derian Hatcher and Phoenix's Keith Tkachuk took time to get reacquainted.

It ended a three-game losing streak for the Stars, who also got two goals from Guy Carbonneau, including an empty-netter with two seconds remaining.

"I knew it was coming back to me," said Hull, who had just four goals in the first 13 games. "The way I'm shooting, I don't know what's going to go in and what's not going in. It was nice to see it go in."

Phoenix, which outshot Dallas 22-10 through two periods, blew a 3-1 lead and lost its second straight game and first at home this season.

"We made some bad decisions," said Coyotes coach Bob Francis. "We have to get back to fundamentals."

Hull and Jamie Wright scored 21 seconds apart to forge a 3-3 tie 1:28 into the third period.

Carbonneau received a double-minor for a high stick that cut Phoenix's Rick Tocchet above the left eye and the Coyotes took a 4-3 lead on Jyrki Lumme's power-play goal with 5:45 remaining.

Dallas tied it with 3:31 left, just as Carbonneau's second penalty expired. Sergei Zubov skated in from the point and wristed a loose puck past Coyotes goaltender Mikhail Shtalenkov.

Tocchet was called for high-sticking with 2:43 to play and Hull scored the game-winner on a one-timer from the left faceoff circle. It was his goal No. 592 of his career.

The game began with playoff intensity. It was the first time Stars captain Derian Hatcher faced the Coyotes since shattering the jaw of Phoenix's Jeremy Roenick on April 14 in Dallas.

Hatcher was suspended for seven games for the vicious hit, including the first five games of last year's playoffs.

Coyotes captain Keith Tkachuk fought Hatcher at center ice just 1:43 into Friday night's game after Carbonneau put Dallas ahead 1-0 on a wrist shot from the slot at the 58-second mark.

"I was the one who started it," Hatcher said. "He said something, I said something. I'm surprised he fought because I've been playing with him in the league for six years... I'm not sure it it's over."

The fight seemed to spark the Coyotes, who got goals from Roenick, Tocchet and Travis Green.

It was Green's team-leading 11th of the season and Tocchet's 414th career goal.

Shtalenkov finished with 16 saves, while Dallas goalie Ed Belfour stopped 31 shots.
