BOX SCORE
CHICAGO (AP) -- Steve Passmore had much better luck summing up the Chicago Blackhawks' latest loss than he did stopping the puck in the third period. "They came out flying in the third and we came out flat," Passmore said after Chicago's 4-2 loss to Nashville on Wednesday night. "We're finding new ways to shoot ourselves in the foot. We're starting to be creative about it." David Legwand and Drake Berehowsky scored goals 52 seconds apart early in the third period for the Predators. "We played a defensive game, then came out in the third and it was good for us" said Berehowsky, who assisted on Legwand's goal. "Then when they scored, we didn't fold our tents and give in." Sebastien Bordeleau and Tom Fitzgerald also had third-period goals for the Predators, who won their second straight after losing six in a row. Alex Zhamnov and Doug Gilmour scored for Chicago, which has lost two straight and is 1-5 in its last six. Chicago star Tony Amonte's goal streak was snapped at six games. "Both teams played well defensively," Nashville coach Barry Trotz said. "No one wanted to make a mistake." Legwand opened the scoring with a power-play goal 28 seconds into the third. After Nashville's Patric Kjellberg lost the puck in the slot, Legwand slid it under Passmore from 10 feet. Berehowsky made it 2-0 at 1:20, taking Scott Walker's pass from behind the net and one-timing a close-range shot past Passmore. Zhamnov cut it to 2-1 with 9:15 left in the period with a power-play goal. He beat goalie Mike Dunham on a screened shot. Bordeleau made it 3-1 with 7:31 left, beating Passmore with a wrist shot from the left circle. Gilmour countered 26 seconds later, scoring off a rebound. Fitzgerald completed the scoring with an empty-net goal with 14.5 seconds remaining. "Boom, we get a couple of goals, then it kind of opens up a bit in the third period," Fitzgerald said.
