Injuries have sidelined some of the NFL's best names in the past year. Most, but not all, have occurred on turf.

PLAYER INJURY SURFACE HOW IT HAPPENED
Michael Irvin Neck Turf Irvin's helmet and neck twisted on impact with the turf as helmet of Philadelphia's Tim Hauck's caught Irvin in the right shoulder blade.
Shannon Sharpe Collarbone Grass Sharpe was hit by two defenders and landed hard on the ground as he attempted to catch a pass.
Terrell Davis Knee Grass Davis hurt knee making a tackle following an interception at Mile High Stadium.
Ki-Jana Carter Kneecap Grass Carter's run of injuries continued with a dislocated kneecap at Erickson Stadium.
Jamal Anderson Knee Turf Anderson took a handoff at Texas Stadium and fell to the turf untouched, tearing his ACL.
Jeff Blake Shoulder Turf Blake injured his shoulder when Junior Seau tackled him hard to the turf at Cinergy Field.
Vinny Testaverde Achilles Turf Testaverde was untouched after making a quick cut to the ball when Curtis Martin fumbled.
Herman Moore Knee Turf Moore was injured in season-opener in Seattle and was out for four weeks.
Garrison Hearst Knee Turf Hearst was injured in a playoff game in Atlanta a year ago and hasn't returned.
