Jamal Anderson's 60 OT

About the play: This is a play the Redskins made famous with the Hogs and John Riggins. In Jamal Anderson, the Falcons have a back who is similar to Riggins.

Anderson is one of the NFL's biggest workhorses, and he'll get close to 400 carries this year.

Jamal loves running from a single-back set, deep (seven yards) in the backfield. He loves to see the line from tackle to tackle, and he has full vision without a fullback in front of him.

60 OT is designed to go downhill and get four to five yards each time. It also can get huge yards if your center or left guard can get their blocks and get Jamal to the secondary.

It is critical that the center get a great block back on the tackle. Because the left guard and left tackle will pull, and they must pull real tight to the line of scrimmage. So they don't get pushed back to Anderson. If the defensive line forces the guard/tackle to pull deep, the play is done.

Critical player: The pulling left guard must get up in the hole and cut off the middle linebacker. The guard can't be late.

When to expect this play: Expect the Falcons to use this play as a regular call. Anderson is such a punishing back, that he alone wears defenses down. This is a good first-down play to put your offense in second-and-short.

Other keys: The guard and tackle must not overrun their holes or their blocks. The offensive line must get push. The H-back must get in the way of the end so he can't run Anderson down from behind.

Keys for the defense: The defensive line must penetrate, and the middle linebacker can't let the offensive guard get to his body.
