Shoulder injury sidelines Marino

FOXBORO, Mass. -- Miami's Dan Marino, who has thrown for more yards than any quarterback in history, was lifted with a shoulder injury after two series against the New England Patriots on Sunday.

Jimmy Johnson, left, decided early that Dan Marino wasn't healthy enough to play.
Marino, who complained of an injured right trapezius during the week, completed his first pass for eight yards to go over 60,000 yards for his career.

But on his second throw, he was hit by Lawyer Milloy, and the ball floated out to Patriots linebacker Andy Katzenmoyer, who returned it 57 yards for a touchdown. On the next series, Marino tried a short pass that fell well short of the intended receiver.

"I thought I might be able to start," said Marino, who will have an MRI on Monday. "But when I warmed up, I was throwing change-ups. Usually I throw fastballs, but today I was throwing change-ups."

Damon Huard entered on the third series and his first pass was intercepted for a TD by New England's Ty Law, who returned the ball 27 yards for a TD.

But Huard settled down and threw for 239 yards and two TDs in relief as Miami rallied to beat New England 31-30. Huard hit fullback Stanley Pritchett with a five-yard TD pass with 23 seconds left for the game-winner.
