Thursday, March 9 That time of year |
||||||||||||||||||
(Editor's note: Stanford junior center/forward Carolyn Moos will share a weekly diary with ESPN.com throughout the season. For more on the Cardinal, visit Stanford's official athletic site.) March 9, 2000 I think our team is excited for these upcoming games against Arizona and Arizona State. We are all obviously aware of what the goal for the weekend -- earning at least a share of the Pac-10 title (Stanford can capture a share of the crown if it beats both teams). The atmosphere is likely to be intense; both teams know what time of the year it is and play is likely to reflect that.
The Wildcats are going to be ready to play. We have to be the aggressors and be more excited and competitive. That is a lot of what winning is about this time of the year -- enthusiasm and tenaciousness. It is going to take a great mental and physical effort to win, as well as a focus on our defense and rebounding. Arizona State will be a big game as well. The Sun Devils beat us in the season opener. That is not a fond memory for our team. We will be watching Sunday's NCAA Tournament selection show in our locker room together as a team. Preparation for the tournament started the first day we stepped in Maples in the fall. As far as preparing for any future opponent, we'll start as soon as we know who we are playing and when -- with scouting reports and game tactics. |
