Editor's note: Louisiana Tech's Brooke Lassiter, a senior guard and two-year co-captain, will share a weekly diary with ESPN.com throughout the season. Nov. 27, 2001 First of all, I want to congratulate our football team on its outstanding victory over Tulsa on Saturday to win the WAC outright in just our first year of competition in the conference. What a great accomplishment for a team that was picked to be in the lower echelon of the conference in the preseason rankings. Thanks, Bulldogs and coaches, for giving us all a great season. The Lady Techsters are proud of you and wish you the best in your much-deserved bowl game!
My roommates, Christie and Nicole, along with our neighbor, Katie, prepared a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner tonight; it was delicious if I do say so myself! We were extremely excited about our cooking skills and feel like we might possibly be able to prepare a feast for our own families some day. To all those who prepared a dinner of this magnitude, I commend you because I now know it is not the easiest thing in the world to do. Let's just say I more than likely will not be cooking a meal of this nature again anytime in the near future! We escaped the fiasco without any major injuries, but Nicole did suffer a minor contusion to the forehead. Kitchen safety is nothing to joke about; just ask Nicole! The highlight of my quarter break was being able to go to my house to spend the night when we got back from Knoxville late Saturday afternoon. I hadn't had the opportunity to be back home since practice started in October and it was great to see some family and friends. My friends Rebecca and Marie came over and it was great to catch up on the latest happenings in their lives and laugh about the good times we had growing up together. All that was missing was my sister, Lindsey, and the "crew" would have been complete! I also was able to play with my little cousins Kyle, Jake, Robert, and Zak. It's amazing how children grow so fast when you are not around to see them everyday. They love to come to our games and always want to come to my "department" (apartment) after the game. Everyone is excited about our upcoming game in Orlando at the Disney Wide World of Sports Complex this weekend against Duke. It will be a big game for us and not to mention a fun trip. I can't wait to hop on the "Rockin' Roller Coaster" at MGM and scream uncontrollably! A few of us rode that ride numerous times during a previous trip to Orlando to play UCLA during my sophomore year. It is the best ride ever, in my opinion, and I encourage everyone to ride it if given the opportunity! I have to say hello to "BUN" and all the friends on "The Sybil" and wish them a great start to the winter quarter! I need to get some work done and must end for now. See you next week! Brooke |
