The Wolfpack, who advanced to the 1998 Final Four, looked to be the ACC favorite in the preseason, but after opening the 1999-2000 campaign with 14 consecutive victories, N.C. State lost '99 ACC Player of the Year Summer Erb to a broken foot. Without her, the Wolfpack went 3-4, including a disappointing 71-62 loss to Georgia Tech in a first-round ACC tourney game. Erb, however, is slated to return this week, but will her on-court rhythm return as well, and will she be fit to play? Younger players such as freshmen Kaayla Chones and Terah James have been integral all season, but their inexperience and youth could betray them in the NCAA Tournament.
