OUTLOOK
First round: Defeated St. Francis (Pa.), 93-63
Second round: Defeated Illinois, 79-68
Sweet 16: Lost to Penn State, 66-65
The Cyclones are still remembered for their 64-58 upset of top-seeded UConn in last season's Sweet 16. At times this season, however, Iowa State hasn't always been consistent -- remember the back-to-back losses to Kansas and Kansas State in February? Still, the battle-tested Cyclones got themselves back into contention for a top-16 seed with a solid performance in the Big 12 tournament, and should be a safe bet for another Elite Eight appearance. Stacy Frese -- the sharp-shooting 3-point gunner -- is the heart and soul of the team, but Angie Welle and the rest of the supporting cast are ripe for another deep run in the NCAA Tournament.
