ESPN.com When we asked more than a dozen of the top women's college basketball players what came to mind when they thought of Philadelphia, many said Allen Iverson. While the Philadelphia 76ers also sprang into the mind of Illinois senior Tauja Catchings, it had nothing to do with the 76ers' Answer man.
"I think of the Philadelphia 76ers because my dad used to play for them," wrote Catchings, whose mind also wondered toward one of her dad's former teammates, "the great Dr. J." Catchings talked about her dad's playing days and more while completing a survey for ESPN.com. More than 20 players were asked to participate, and the Tournament Dish will continue to roll out the Bio Rhythms -- a fun and humorous look at the athlete by the athlete -- throughout the women's NCAA Tournament. For more on Tauja Catchings, check our her responses below: Favorite food: Macaroni and cheese, fettucini alfredo and caesar salad. Favorite TV show: Saturday Night live and Ally McBeal. Favorite movie: How Stella Got Her Groove Back. Favorite book: Maya Angelou's book of collected poems. How did you get started playing basketball? I've been playing for a long time because it is sort of a family tradition. Just as many families get together for a night of movies, my family got together for basketball drills and pickup games. My dad (Harvey Catchings) played in the NBA and was very strict about the way we played. He used to keep track of the layups and easy shots that we missed while we played and made us run laps afterwards. Needless to say, I ran a lot!! What is your best memory or moment on the court? My all-time favorite basketball memory was winning the Illinois State championship in 1995 with my best friend/sister, Tamika Catchings. It was so exciting because we had an amazing team and we worked so hard every day. Cutting down the nets and holding the massive trophy was incredible. It was also great to share this moment with someone who means so much to me. Do you have any pregame rituals? Before games I normally just read inspirational quotes and write a few lines in my journal. Sometimes I even write letters to people that I care about. Who is the best player you've ever faced? My sister. Not only is she the best but she is also the sweetest. Which player -- man or woman -- would you most like to take one-on-one? Vince Carter. He would probably leap right over me but it would be exciting. Plus, I love his attitude as well as his multi-faceted game.
Person you'd most like to meet? I would love to meet a tall, dark, respectable, trustworthy, funny, athletic, single man to share my dreams with. Tell us something we don't know about you: There are a lot of different things that I am interested in but for the most part, I am very independent and unique. I also lived in Gorizia, Italy, for about a year or so when I was younger. My dad retired overseas with the Italian team Segafredo.
