STARKVILLE, Mississippi (Ticker) -- LaToya Thomas made 14 of 21 shots, scored 34 points and grabbed 19 rebounds as Mississippi State (No. 19 ESPN/USA Today, No. 22 Associated Press) posted an 80-64 triumph over Howard in the finals of the Mississippi State Classic. Jessica Carter chipped in 23 points off the bench, shooting 5-for-8 from the arc. Jennifer Fambrough had 15 points and seven rebounds for Mississippi State (6-2). Mississippi State bolted to a 10-4 lead just under five minutes into the contest and led 36-28 at the half. The Lady Bulldogs shot 52 percent (31-for-60) in the contest and held a 46-32 edge on the boards. Asia Petty scored 21 points and Chanell Washington added 19 for Howard (5-3).
