AUBURN, Alabama (Ticker) -- Tasha Hamilton scored nine of her 16 points in the first six minutes as No. 18 Auburn broke out to an early 23-point lead before rolling to a 94-61 rout of Bowling Green.

Carol Smith also finished with 16 points, Brandi Hillman scored 14 and Lori Nero added 10 for the Tigers (4-0), who held the Falcons (2-2) to three field goals in the first half as they built a 53-14 cushion at the break.

Francine Miller and Megan Jerome scored 18 points apiece for Bowling Green, which shot 18 percent (3-of-17) from the field in the first half.

"The way we dismantled anything they wanted to do offensively was what we had hoped for," Auburn coach Joe Ciampi said. "We had five people trapping and anticipating the passing lanes and not only stealing the ball, but disrupting their offensive plan."

The Tigers decided things early, breaking out to a 28-5 lead when Smith nailed a 3-pointer with 12:02 to go in the first half. Smith and Shera Looney scored five points apiece in the run and Nero added four, backing Hamilton's dominant effort.

"We were ready to go when we came out, from the jump start," Hamilton said. "We knew if we controlled the tempo of the game, everything would fall into place for us."

Bowling Green never got closer than 19 points and Auburn led by as much as 55, 85-30, with 9:29 left in the game.

The Falcons, who led the nation in 3-pointers with 9.3 per game last season, hit 9-of-20 from long range, but it was not enough to keep them in the game.
