STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) -- Chrissy Falcone scored 19 points, including a 3-pointer that put the game out of reach as No. 12 Penn State beat previously undefeated No. 7 Auburn 77-65 Saturday in the Big Ten-SEC Challenge. Helen Darling added 10 points and 11 assists for her third double-double of the season for the Lady Lions (6-2). Andrea Garner had a career-high seven blocks and 16 points for Penn State. Auburn (5-1) got a career-high 19 points from Shana Askew, who came in averaging just 5.4. Garner, Falcone and Maren Walseth sank five consecutive shots to lead Penn State on a 14-4 run after the Lady Lions began the second half with a 46-41 lead. Auburn called a timeout with 14:22 remaining and Penn State ahead 60-47. Then the Tigers countered with a 7-0 run of their own on a 3-pointer from Jackie Pugh and baskets from Conswella Sparrow and Kris Bernath.
Auburn cut Penn State's lead to five points with 1:24 remaining,
but Falcone drained a 3-pointer from the wing to assure the
victory. Darling hit two free throws with 1:01 to play to become
the 21st Lady Lion in school history to score 1,000 points.
