LUBBOCK, Texas (Ticker) -- Plenette Pierson scored 21 points while battling foul trouble and Keitha Dickerson added 11 and 11 rebounds as No. 16 Texas Tech remained unbeaten with a 63-47 victory over Southern Methodist. Pierson, who fouled out with 2:49 remaining, was 7-of-13 from the field and 7-of-13 from the line while pulling down eight rebounds. Texas Tech (5-0) had no fast-break points but wore down SMU with its half-court offense, outscoring the Lady Mustangs 36-12 in the paint. The Lady Raiders held SMU (3-2) to just 34 percent (18-of-53) from the field and converted 20 turnovers into 17 points. Tanisha Ellison added 10 points for Texas Tech, which never trailed. After opening a 32-19 halftime lead, the Lady Raiders maintained a double-figure advantage throughout the second half. Texas Tech, which has been held below 70 points in four of its wins this seson, built its biggest advantage at 63-45 on Ellison's jumper with 1:17 remaining. The Lady Raiders shot only 39 percent (24-of-62). Karlin Kennedy was the only player in double figures for SMU with 14 points. The Lady Mustangs suffered their second straight loss after opening the season with three wins.
