Iowa State crushes Northwestern

AMES, Iowa -- Desiree Francis came off the bench to score 12 points and Stacy Frese and Gintare Cipinyte added 10 apiece as Iowa State (No. 14 ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll, No. 12 AP) pasted Northwestern, 67-32.

Francis made 5-of-9 shots, grabbed three rebounds, recorded three steals and blocked two shots in 21 minutes. The Cyclones (3-1) shot 48 percent (26-of-54) and took advantage of 28 Northwestern turnovers.

Iowa State has won its three contests by an average of 23 points. Its only loss came to nationally ranked Stanford on November 21.

The Cyclones led 26-17 after 20 minutes but broke open the game by outscoring the Wildcats 41-15 in the second half.

Northwestern (1-2) got 13 points from Leslie Schock but no other player scored more than six points. Shock was 6-of-14 from the field but the rest of the team combined to shoot 8-of-25. The Wildcats were also just 1-of-8 from the free throw line.

The Iowa State bench outscored the entire Wildcats team, 34-32.
