MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Abbie Willenborg and Lisa Oldenburg combined for 43 points and 26 rebounds as Marquette (No. 25 ESPN/USA Today; No. 23 AP) wrapped up Conference USA's overall championship by defeating St. Louis 82-70 Sunday. The Golden Eagles (22-4 overall, 14-1 C-USA) won their eighth straight game but didn't have an easy time subduing St. Louis and hot shooter Mandy Lueking, who scored 11 of her 25 points in the first five minutes. Willenborg, who became Marquette's leading career scorer Friday in a victory over N.C. Charlotte, scored 24 points to boost her career total to 1,786. Oldenburg added 19 points and Kiesha Oliver 14. A 13-4 run by Marquette made it 57-44, but Lueking's fifth 3-pointer brought the Billikens (11-14, 4-10) within 10 points with 7:20 to play before Marquette closed it out. Lueking's 3-pointers highlighted the St. Louis offense. Bridget Beckmann added 11 points for the Billikens. The Golden Eagles shot 54 percent (30-56) and had a 45-36 advantage in rebounds as Willenborg pulled down 16 and Oldenburg 10. Willenborg needs 15 rebounds to become Marquette's career leader.
Marquette honored its three seniors -- Willenborg, Oldenburg and Oliver -- in a postgame ceremony in front of 3,220 fans, the third-largest crowd in school history.
