BATON ROUGE, Louisiana (Ticker) -- Marie Ferdinand scored 16 of her 24 points in the second half as 10th-ranked Louisiana State overcame a sluggish first half to record a 68-51 Southeastern Conference victory over Arkansas.

Ferdinand exploded for nine points early in the half, giving the Fighting Tigers (19-4, 8-2 SEC) a 52-43 lead with 10:26 to play. A 3-pointer by Katrina Hibbert and a layup by Angelia Crockett made it 57-43 with eight minutes remaining.

Hibbert scored 18 points and DeTrina White 12 for LSU, which rebounded from a 72-68 loss at Alabama and has won nine of its last 10.

"I think it realy boils down to the second half," LSU coach Sue Gunter said. "We did a nice job of fighting back and getting the lead before halftime, then we got a boost from the crowd in the second half."

Arkansas (14-9, 4-6) grabbed an early 14-7 lead, but LSU rallied to take a 31-29 halftime lead and was never threatened in the second half.

Karyn Karlin scored 25 points for the Lady'Backs, but was virually a one-women attack as no other Arkansas player had more than six points. Karlin also tied a career high with six steals.

"We were running them down and they looked tired in the first half," Karlin said. "They stepped it up in the second half and we didn't."

Arkansas has dropped two straight following a five-game winning streak. The Lady'Backs also suffered an 82-69 setback to LSU on January 13.
