CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) -- Nikki Teasley came off the bench to score 20 of her 24 points after halftime, including two free throws with 22 seconds left in overtime that clinched North Carolina's 66-63 win over Virginia (No. 21 ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll, No. 22) on Monday night. Teasley scored North Carolina's last 10 points of regulation. Her two foul shots with 25 seconds to play tied it at 57, and Virginia missed two shots in the final five second.
This marked the fourth overtime game in the last eight meetings between North Carolina (12-10, 4-7) and Virginia (17-6, 9-2). Virginia, which did not get off a shot in overtime after Teasley's free throws, had not lost in the Atlantic Coast Conference since Dec. 5 at Duke. LaQuanda Barksdale gave North Carolina the lead for good with a reverse layup, making it 63-61 with 1:45 to play. She added a foul shot with 57 seconds remaining. Telisha Quarles got Virginia's last basket on a jumper that cut North Carolina's lead to 64-63 with 45 seconds to play. Quarles finished with 19 points. Shuye LaRue had 16 and Renee Robinson added 11. Juana Brown had 10 points for North Carolina.
