DURHAM, N.C. (AP) -- Ninth-ranked Duke was more than glad to make
North Carolina its latest victim.
Lauren Rice scored 16 points and the Blue Devils won their 20th
straight ACC home game, romping past North Carolina 101-58 Thursday
night.

Duke posted its biggest rout ever against its archrival and led
by 50 points late in the game.
"We shot really well in the first half and got off to a good
start," Rice said. "It seemed everything was going in the basket.
I was shocked at how lopsided it got."
Peppi Browne and Georgia Schweitzer also scored 16 apiece for
Duke (18-2, 7-1 Atlantic Coast Conference). Sheana Mosch added 13
and Missy West had 10.
"We just were ready to play," Schweitzer said. "Coming off
two games where we didn't play so well, and North Carolina being
such a big game for us, we didn't have any trouble getting up for
this tonight."
Browne left with 11:14 remaining after falling to the floor --
untouched -- on a breakaway layup. Team trainers sent her to the
hospital for examination of her right knee, and her condition was
not immediately known.
"I hope that's not what I think it is," North Carolina coach
Sylvia Hatchell said. "I've seen a lot of torn ACLs, and my
stomach dropped when I saw her go down. It looked pretty bad."
The Blue Devils took a 24-6 lead in the first 8:23 and stretched
it to 52-20 by halftime.
North Carolina (10-9, 2-6), which has lost seven of eight,
trailed by as much as 97-47 late.
LaQuanda Barksdale, one of three Tar Heels to foul out, scored
15 points before leaving with 5:05 to play. Cherie Lea also had a
career-high 15 points and Coretta Scott added 10.
Browne made four of her first five shots in helping Duke have
its highest-scoring first half all season.
The Blue Devils made 22 of 33 shots in the first half and
finished 32-for-56 (57 percent). They forced 24 turnovers and
limited North Carolina to 19-for-63 shooting from the field.
"Obviously, we were very focused," Duke coach Gail Goestenkors
said. "We had not done such a good job of doing that in the past
couple of games, so we were due."
