NEW ORLEANS (Ticker) -- Salome Hector scored 29 points off the bench and Janell Burse added 28 and 20 rebounds as 20th-ranked Tulane remained undefeated with a 91-77 victory over Southern Mississippi in the Conference USA opener for both schools.

Burse made 13-of-19 shots from the field as Tulane (12-0, 1-0 USA) shot 50 percent (33-of-66). The Green Wave's previous best start was 7-0 in 1993-94.

Grace Daley contributed 11 points for Tulane, which never trailed after building a 42-39 halftime lead.

Angela Atterberry had 16 points and 13 rebounds and Angela Johnson also scored 16 points for Southern Mississippi, which shot 35 percent (25-of-71).

After a follow shot by Jessica Woods pulled the Lady Golden Eagles within 42-41 at the start of the second half, Hector completed a three-point play to ignite a 13-0 run. She had seven points during the spurt, which was capped by Sarah Goree's 3-pointer.
