QB SPECIFICS
Arm Strength
B+
Zack's arm is deceptively strong. At first he seems to be average, but the more you watch the better he looks. His deep ball is above average, improving since he broke in last year and still getting better.
Escape Ability
B
When opposing teams put together game plans for Penn State they don't get scared by his scrambling ability. But Zack makes subtle moves to get free and one he starts running and picks up steam he is deceptive. He is tough to sack because teams misjudge him. He has the look of a tall, stationary guy but he moves better than most people realize.
Quick Set Up
B+
I find Zack to be a very smooth player. At first he seems a little gawky, but as you watch him he is fluid and repetitive. His setup has already improved and should continue to do so.
Accuracy Long
A-
Zack attacks all areas of the field and throws the post and fade routes very well. Throws a nice high, deep ball on the fade. He has the ability to rocket the ball in there when needed but also has a good touch.
Accuracy Short
A-
Penn State's offense doesn't have a lot of the short, quick throws that a team like Florida or Kentucky does, but when Zack throws screens and routes to the backs he is able to take a lot off the ball and is very accurate. This is one of his strongest areas.
Locate 2nd Receiver
B+
Zack is more of a gamer than people realize. He has extreme confidence, is willing to move from one receiver to the next and does it smoothly. I like the way his head is on a swivel and finding people as he moves in the pocket.
Running Ability
A-
This is the area where Zack is better than most people realize. He is a threat to run. I saw him make a great 69-yard run against Ohio State last year, and he is an outstanding, deceptive runner.
Quickness of Delivery
A-
He has a quick release. Zack doesn't labor to throw the ball and has it ready to throw. He is confident in his ability to wait until the last second and doesn't always have to use his whole arm. He can just use his forearm to snap the ball over the top and flick it out there. I am very impressed with Zack's release.
Judgment
A
First of all, Zack is a battler. He loves the end of the half and the end of the game, and he likes to play against the big-name schools. Penn State has a very complicated check-off system for audibles and he does an outstanding job with it, and his judgment is at a high level.
Poise
A
This is Zack's strength. Coming in like he did at Penn State, stepping in after Matt Seneca got hurt and coming through under pressure in some big games, showed the poise he has. The sky is the limit for him with his tremendous poise he has and he can become an outstanding quarterback.

SUMMARY
Zack is a playmaker. The tighter the football game, the more he seems to be able to handle all the pressure of the game. He doesn't make a lot of big mistakes and is probably the most diverse quarterback I have seen in a long time. His running ability is deceptive and he is much better on the run than people realize. Zack still has not reached the top of the learning curve, even in the college game, and can still get better.
