NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) _ With no time left on the clock, a 37-yard field goal by Seth Goodowens gave Tennessee State a 42-41 victory over Murray State and the Ohio Valley Conference championship.

The victory sends the Tigers (10-0, 6-0 Ohio Valley Conference) to the I-AA playoffs.

It was the second straight year Tennessee State has played the Racers (6-4, 5-2) for the championship. Last year, TSU won 46-44.

The Tigers extended the nation's longest 1-AA regular season winning streak to 18 games.

Murray State's Justin Fuente's 355 passing yards gave him 3,024 for the season, an OVC record surpassing the 3,002 mark set by Leon Murray of TSU in 1998.

Avion Black returned the opening kickoff 83 yards for a touchdown for TSU, and the Tigers dominated throughout the first half to take a 33-14 lead.

But Tennessee State didn't score in the third quarter, while Murray State rallied for two touchdowns. Justin Fuente hit Joe Perez on a 29-yard pass with 10:02 left. At 1:50, Tim Linville scored on a one-yard run.

The Racers kept it up with two more touchdowns in the fourth. Jason French caught a 38-yard pass from Fuente with 10:21 left. About two minutes later, Jermain Manning ran 47 yards, and Murray St. led 41-33.

TSU got within 41-39 with 4:14 left in the game, when Chris Perkins hit Black on a 30-yard touchdown pass. The Racers got off three plays before having to punt, setting up a TSU 45-yard drive that ate up the last two minutes of the game, capped by the winning field goal.
