NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. (AP) _ Miguel Reyes rushed for 241 yards on 34 carries and scored two touchdowns as Marist beat Iona 40-29 Saturday.

The Red Foxes (5-5, 4-2 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) took a 27-7 lead as Reyes scored on runs of 17 and 16 yards.

But the Gaels (5-4, 4-3) closed within 27-21 on two TD passes by Lavar Stockton, the second a 43-yarder to Rob Sallazzo with 8:49 left in the third quarter.

Marist answered six minutes later with its longest scoring play of the day, a 54-yard pass from Kevin Chartrand to Jerry Giordano.

Ralph Saldiveri of Iona closed the scoring with a 15-yard run with 8:13 to play and he finished with 104 yards in 29 carries and the school career rushing record of 2,778 yards.

Todd Leone held the record, gaining 2,760 yards from 1981-84.
