EL PASO, Texas (Ticker) -- Ken Bohanan rushed for 100 yards and two touchdowns and the defense returned two interceptions for scores as Tulsa snapped a seven-game losing streak with a 43-19 Western Athletic Conference upset of Texas-El Paso.

Bohanan, who came into the game with just 157 yards rushing, helped Tulsa (2-7, 1-5 WAC) post its first conference win of the season.

The loss prevented UTEP (4-6, 2-3) from finishing unbeaten at home for the first time since 1988. The Miners won their first four homes games this year by an average of 16 points.

Bohanan's two-yard TD run ignited Tulsa's 19-point first quarter as the Golden Hurricane jumped to a 19-0 lead. UTEP got on the board on Elzie Johnson's four-yard TD run early in the second period before Derek Nordstrom booted a 27-yard field goal to give Tulsa a 22-6 halftime margin.

UTEP tried to rally in the third period as backup Jay Stuckey tossed TD passes of 15 yards to Lee Mays and 70 yards to Allan Ray, cutting the deficit to 22-19.

But Tulsa's defense took over in the final period as defensive back Brett Butler's 25-yard interception return made it 29-19 just 31 seconds into the period.

After Bohanan's second touchdown gave Tulsa a 36-19 lead, linebacker Ashon Farley capped the scoring with a 63-yard interception return for a score with 52 seconds remaining.

Josh Blankenship completed 17-of-28 passes for 205 yards and a touchdown for Tulsa. John Mosley, the Golden Hurricane's leading rusher, gained 64 yards on 15 carries.

Rocky Perez completed 11-of-21 for 158 yards and two interceptions for UTEP while Stuckey connected on 8-of-12 passes for 148 yards. Paul Smith paced the Miners on the ground, gaining 108 yards on 18 carries.

Tulsa increased its lead in the all-time series to 5-3.
