BOX SCORE
RENO, Nev. (AP) -- John Welsh came off the bench and threw two fourth-quarter touchdown passes, and Idaho overcame a record-breaking performance by receiver Trevor Insley to beat Nevada 42-33 Saturday. Welsh, out since the second game of the season with a broken leg, threw TD passes of 16 yards to Travis Stombaugh and 41 yards to Rossi Martin in his first action since his injury. Idaho (6-3, 4-1 Big West) also scored on J.J. Johnston's fumble recovery in the end zone, two safeties, and Chris Lacy's 92-yard return of the opening kickoff. Insley caught 14 passes for 254 yards to become the NCAA career leader in receiving yardage with 4,660. He made 12 catches in the second half despite suffering a mild concussion in the second quarter. The Wolf Pack (3-6, 2-2) four times pulled within a touchdown in the second half, but Idaho responded the first three times, first on Johnston's fumble recovery and then on the two TD passes by Welsh. Welsh completed 5 of 7 passes for 83 yards and ran for 39 yards on three carries. Nevada's David Neill was 22-for-38 for 317 yards and two touchdowns, both to Insley. Insley has 113 catches for 1,715 yards this season, both national bests. He broke the NCAA career record of 4,518 receiving yards, set by Wyoming's Marcus Harris from 1993-96. Chris Lemon rushed for 178 yards for Nevada, which routed Idaho 58-23 last year. | ALSO SEE College Football Scoreboard Idaho Clubhouse Nevada Clubhouse Nevada's Insley breaks NCAA career-receiving mark
