RICHMOND, Va. (AP) _ London Makise ran for 92 yards and two touchdowns to lead Division II Virginia Union to a 21-9 victory over I-AA Norfolk State in the annual Gold Bowl Saturday.

Andre Braxton scored the Panthers' third touchdown on a 5-yard run in the fourth quarter. He ran 21 times for 94 yards. Virginia Union (5-2) rushed for 319 yards on 52 carries.

The Spartans (1-6) ran for just 79 yards on 32 carries and Maurice Selby, 11-of 36, passed for 175 yards and an interception.

Angelo Todd scored Norfolk State's only touchdown on a 3-yard run with five minutes left in the game.
