BOX SCORE
WINSTON-SALEM, North Carolina (Ticker) -- Quarterback Ben Sankey had 240 yards of total offense as Wake Forest posted its biggest victory margin in 24 years with a 47-3 rout of Alabama-Birmingham. Wake Forest (4-3) opened a 24-3 lead in the opening quarter and was on the way to its third win in five games. Sankey fired a 29-yard scoring pass to Jammie Deese and Morgan Kane added a pair of touchdown runs. Sankey completed 9-of-16 passes for 132 yards and also rushed for 108 yards on 12 carries with one score. Deese caught five passes for 89 yards and Kane rushed for 79 yards on 22 carries. It was the Deamon Deacons' highest point total since a 52-24 triumph over Navy on November 23, 1991 and their biggest margin of victory since a 66-21 pounding of Virginia on October 25, 1975. Daniel Dixon set career highs in completions and attempts for UAB (3-4) last week against Cincinnati, but did not fare as well today. He completed just 8-of-24 passes for 84 yards as the Blazers lost for the second time in three games. Daryl Johnson caught six passes for 99 yards for UAB, which suffered its most lopsided loss since a 60-7 thumping by Troy State on October 28, 1995.
