FRESNO, Calif. (AP) _ Billy Volek led Fresno State from a 9-point deficit with six minutes left to a 26-19 overtime victory over Texas Christian Saturday night. Volek tied the game with a 16-yard pass to Rodney Wright with 1:08 left in the game, then hit Charles Smith with a 7-yard scoring strike in overtime. TCU (1-3 overall, 0-1 Western Athletic Conference) had an opportunity to answer Fresno's overtime score, but Terence Brooks slapped away Casey Printers' pass at the goal line on fourth down. Fresno State (3-2, 1-0) could have won the game in regulation but Jeff Hanna's point-after attempt was blocked, forcing the overtime. Hanna kicked a 27-yard field goal with 5:23 left to cut the TCU lead to 19-13. Reggie Hunt's 95-yard kickoff return to open the second half gave TCU a 13-7 lead. It was TCU's first second-half score of the season. Fresno drove to the TCU 3 on the ensuing possession but turned the ball over on downs after Volek was sacked. A TCU fumble gave Fresno the ball right back at the Horned Frogs 14 but the Bulldogs came away empty again after a muffed snap on a field goal try. Chris Kaylakie's 28-yard field goal late in the third quarter gave TCU a 16-7 lead. After Hanna's 37-yard field goal, Kaylakie connected from 22 yards to give the Horned Frogs a 19-10 lead. TCU drove 70 yards in six plays on its first possession, with Printers' 29-yard pass to Kevin Brown putting TCU ahead 7-0. Fresno State had trouble getting its offense going in the first half as Volek was sacked four times. Fresno State finally got on the scoreboard with 10 seconds left in the half on a 1-yard run by Volek. A personal foul penalty following a punt gave Fresno State good field position at the TCU 35. Fresno State held running back LeDainian Tomlinson to just 49 yards on 20 carries. Tomlinson came in averaging 178 yards rushing and 6.2 yards per carry.
