BOSTON (AP) _ Frank Chamberlin returned a fumble for a touchdown, Ralph Parent ran a blocked punt in for a TD and Ramon Johnson scored on an interception Saturday as Boston College defeated Northeastern 33-22 in the first meeting between the schools in 61 years.

The Eagles, taking advantage of a soft early schedule, are unbeaten after four games for the first time since 1992. It was the first October win for third-year coach Tom O'Brien in nine tries.

Cedric Washington carried 15 times for 107 yards for Boston College, the third time he has surpassed 100 yards this season. But it was the Eagles' defense that turned the game around.

Jason Quinlan's 1-yard TD run moved Northeastern (1-3) ahead 14-13 late in the second quarter before the Eagles grabbed the lead for good 79 seconds later when Chamberlin picked up Tim Gale's fumble at the Northeastern 12 and ran it in to make it 20-14.

Parent scooped up a blocked punt and ran 15 yards for a score, making it 26-14 early in the fourth quarter. The Eagles' two-point conversion failed.

Johnson's 27-yard return of Quinlan's pass made it 33-14 midway through the fourth quarter.

Earlier in the third quarter, the Huskies missed two field-goal opportunities when they trailed by six points. Northeastern backup quarterback Fred Vallett hit Michael Mack with a 24-yard TD pass, and the Huskies converted a two-point conversion to make it 33-22 late in the game.

BC has won all five games between the two Boston-area schools.

Boston College's first three wins were against Baylor, Navy and Rutgers, three teams with a combined 10-23 record last season. Northeastern is a Division 1-AA school.
