LAS VEGAS (AP) _ Mike Anderson rushed for 116 yards and four touchdowns as Utah opened Mountain West Conference play with a 52-14 win over the University of Nevada-Las Vegas on Saturday night. Anderson scored on runs of 3, 1, 4 and 9 yards for the Utes (3-0, 1-0). Omar Bacon added 92 yards and one touchdown for Utah. Darnell Arceneaux completed 8 of 15 passes for 143 yards with one touchdown and one interception. It was the second straight loss for the Rebels (2-2, 0-1) after opening the season with wins at North Texas and Baylor. UNLV was shut out by Iowa State last week, 24-0. The Utah defense limited the Rebels to only 153 yards of total offense, 85 coming in the fourth quarter after the game had been decided. The Rebels didn't cross midfield on an offensive play until midway through the fourth quarter. The Utes led at the half, 24-7. Anderson scored on a 3-yard run with 5:47 left in the first quarter. Golden Whetman kicked a 23-yard field goal with 14:11 in the second quarter and Arceneaux hit Steve Smith on a 39-yard scoring pass with 10 minutes left in the half to put the Utes up 17-0. UNLV's lone score in the first half came on a 97-yard kickoff return by Len Ware following Smith's touchdown catch. Bacon scored on a 6-yard run with 7:08 left in the half for the Utes. Utah capitalized on an interception and a blocked punt for two touchdowns early in the third quarter to go up 39-7. Anderson scored on runs of 1 and 4 yards. Anderson added his fourth touchdown run with 3:31 left in the third quarter to put the Utes up 45-7. D'Shaun Crockett capped the scoring for Utah with an 11-yard run with 10:37 in the fourth quarter. The Rebels' final touchdown came with 5:36 left in the game when Jason Vaughan hit Nate Turner in the corner of the end zone. The 3-yard scoring pass capped an 11-play drive covering 79 yards.
