DALLAS (AP) _ After just four games, it's already been a bad year for Hawaii losing streaks.

Three weeks after ending an NCAA-leading 18-game losing skid with a win at home over Eastern Illinois, Hawaii stopped a 15-game road streak on Saturday with a 20-0 win over Southern Methodist.

It was also the Rainbows' first road win against a Western Athletic Conference opponent since a 41-21 defeat of UTEP in 1992, a string of 24 games. Hawaii's last win against any team on the mainland was a 34-0 defeat of Southeast Missouri in 1994.

"It just was our day," Hawaii coach June Jones said. "(SMU) had a couple of big plays called back. Some days they call those, some days it's a touchdown."

Dan Robinson led the Rainbows with 304 passing yards and two touchdowns. He completed 23 of 39 passes and threw three interceptions.

SMU, beaten 26-0 three weeks ago by Arkansas, was shut out in consecutive home games for the first time in 39 years.

Mustangs coach Mike Cavan took all of the blame for the loss to Arkansas, but SMU players refused to blame the coaching staff for not preparing them for Hawaii.

"As a player, I'm going to say we didn't come out and play," said offensive lineman Austin Adami. "And we're going to put it on our shoulders this week."

Hawaii's Channon Harris scored on a 38-yard pass from Robinson to cap a two-play, 81-yard drive in the first quarter. Harris dropped what would have been a 64-yard touchdown on Hawaii's previous possession.

Robinson hit Craig Stutzman on a 13-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter.

Eric Hannum kicked a career-long 50-yard field goal at the end of the first half to put the Rainbows ahead 10-0. Hannum made a 36-yarder as time expired, but had to re-kick after a face-mask penalty.

Hannum added a 42-yard field goal in the fourth quarter.

Hawaii's Dwight Carter had 10 catches for 127 yards.

SMU's lone sustained drive of the first half, 71 yards in six minutes, ended when Kris Briggs fumbled at the 1.

The Mustangs had just 231 yards and had two touchdowns called back on penalties in the third quarter.

"We just can't win football games if we have so many mistakes," Cavan said.

Rodnick Phillips broke off right tackle for a 70-yard touchdown on SMU's first play of the second half, but wide receiver Damon Blueitt was called for holding. Cornerback Tracy Hart had a 25-yard interception return for a touchdown wiped out two minutes later by an offside penalty.
