BOX SCORE
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Carlton Rowe scored on a 6-yard run midway through the fourth quarter Saturday as Boston College rallied to beat Navy 14-10. Rowe's touchdown capped a six-play, 73-yard drive for the Eagles (2-0). Quarterback Tim Hasselbeck completed three passes on the drive, one to Rowe for 23 yards and two to Dedrick DeWalt for 46. Boston College mounted the winning drive, which took just 1:59, after Navy had marched 68 yards in 12 plays for its lone touchdown of the day. Brian Broadwater got the score on a 1-yard run. Navy (1-2) moved the ball well early, putting together drives of 66 and 60 yards. The Midshipmen stalled inside the 10 of both drives, missing a field goal attempt on the first and getting a 25-yard field goal from Tim Shubdza on the second. Shubdza also hit the left upright on a 51-yard attempt in the second quarter. Boston College opened the scoring on a 64-yard pass from Hasselbeck to DuJuan Daniels on its opening possession. It was the first offensive play of the season for Daniels, a freshman who played cornerback in the season opener. Hasselbeck, under pressure much of the day, was sacked four times but completed 14-of-21 for 214 yards. The Eagles were held to only 115 rushing yards. Cedric Washington led the running attack with 67 yards, only the seventh time in the last three seasons that Boston College didn't have a 100-yard rusher. Broadwater paced Navy with 117 yards on 23 carries, topping the 100-yard mark for the seventh consecutive game. He threw for 105 yards, completing 6-of-18. Navy turned the ball over on downs in its own territory twice in the final six minutes, but Boston College was unable to capitalize. Kicker Tim Matich hit the right upright on a 41-yard field goal attempt with 3:35 left. The Eagles were content to run out the clock on their final possession. | ALSO SEE College Football Scoreboard Boston College Clubhouse Navy Clubhouse |
