NEW YORK (AP) _ Ron Jean, who ran for 110 yards on 19 carries, tied a Patriot League record with four touchdowns as defending champion Lehigh beat Fordham 49-7 in a season opener on Saturday. Jean scored on runs of 35, 1, 28 and 3 yards as Lehigh spoiled the debut of Dave Clawson as coach of the Rams. Jean, who scored 13 touchdowns last season, scored for the first time with 11:27 left in the first quarter. After Fordham tied it on Mark Carney's 13-yard pass to Jim Wells with seven seconds left in the first quarter, Jean went 1 yard 12:14 before halftime and 28 with 5:24 remaining as Lehigh took control. He scored his last TD with 12:52 left in the third quarter. Phil Stambaugh, who threw TD passes of 18 and 34 yards to Kody Fedorcha, was 20-of-25 for 256 yards.
