BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) _ Bobby Sippio returned two punts for touchdowns and turned an interception into another score in only his second college game as Western Kentucky defeated Cumberland, Tenn., 55-7 Saturday night.

Western Kentucky (2-0) scored touchdowns on its first three possessions, on runs of 54 and 40 yards by fullback Rod Smart and a 14-yard pass from quarterback Jason Michael to Leroy Littles.

Sippio, a freshman strong safety, made it 27-0 when he returned a punt 49 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter.

Sippio took another punt 52 yards for another touchdown to give Western a 34-7 lead in the third quarter.

On Cumberland's next play from scrimmage, Sippio intercepted a Zach Threlkeld pass and raced 23 yards for another touchdown.

Cumberland (0-2) drove 85 yards in 14 plays for its only score, coming on a 10-yard pass from Threlkeld to Chad Butts to make it 27-7 with 5:06 left in the second quarter.

Smart rushed for 187 yards on 16 carries for the Hilltoppers.
