RECAP
STILLWATER, Oklahoma (Ticker) -- Ethan Howell caught a 63-yard touchdown pass and Jamaal Fobbs ran 68 yards for a score as Oklahoma State struck for big plays in a 24-7 season-opening victory over Louisiana-Lafayette. After managing just a 7-0 halftime lead on a two-yard TD run by Nathan Simmons midway through the first quarter, Oklahoma State's offense came live in the second half. Howell hauled in a pass from B.J. Tiger to make it 14-0 with 9:29 left in the third period. Fobbs' scoring scamper gave the Cowboys a 21-0 lead with 10:25 remaining and Tim Sydnes booted a 29-yard field goal for Oklahoma State just over two minutes later. Formerly known as Southwestern Louisiana, Louisville-Lafayette gained just 61 total yards and did not score against Oklahoma State's defense. The Ragin' Cajuns (0-1) got their only points on Gerald Stewart's seven-yard interception return with 5:46 to go. Tiger completed 6-of-13 for 109 yards and Fobbs rushed for 95 yards on nine carries. Barton Folse was just 3-of-12 for the Ragin' Cajuns while Darin Brister gained 48 yards on nine attempts. Oklahoma State improved to 5-0 all-time against UL-Lafayette and posted its 15th straight non-conference home victory.
