The saga will continue until …

Tom Geyer's departure won't be a huge loss for the Indiana basketball team. We were just testing you on that question. But our other questions – Is this an isolated incident or will more players follow? How will the loss of Geyer affect the Hoosiers this season? And will the Bob Knight saga ever end? – apparently touched a few nerves. Here's what folks had to say. (We have edited the comments.)

Geyer was a walk-on scrub whose main role on the team was to carry the equipment bags. That being said, his loss is a much bigger loss for the IU basketball program than the loss of Bob Knight. After all, while Geyer could always carry the bags, Knight's baggage became too heavy for everyone at Indiana.

Bob Knight is still gone? Then the answer to your questions from me and thousands of former Hoosier fans is: Who cares, we are through with Indiana basketball.

This is an isolated incident. Geyer was a role player at best. His skill set had value in Knight's offensive and defensive systems, but it is not likely he would get off the bench, or even earn a scholarship, at another Big Ten-level program. Notice that he is not transfering to another school. I think Tom realized that his PT would go from limited to none under the new coaching staff, so he was not willing to make the type of sacrifices required of a student athlete for anyone but Coach Knight.

I would love to see the Hoosiers go out and continue their string of 20 wins and a third place finish in the Big Ten so everyone can see it's not the coach's fault, rather the lack of good talent. Indiana will struggle at times this year. They will miss Knight's leadership in the big games, and may lose to Notre Dame and or Kentucky. But in the end, IU will go to the tournament and lose in the first or second round yet again, leaving IU to keep Davis as their coach.

Tom Geyer is a great guy, but at best an average Division I basketball player. This is an isolated incident, and the saga will end when the media puts it to rest. Tom Geyer is not a huge piece of this year's IU team. He is a good cheerleader from the bench, but not an important figure on the court. I am sorry to see him leave, but I think the team will do extremely well without him.

This is isolated. It is actually helpful for IU. It opens a much needed scholarship for next year to obtain Key Madison. Geyer is a typical Bob Knight pickup. I wish him well in the future, but it is time for IU to fill his shoes with a more athletic and much more talented player. Is the Bob Knight saga going to end? Yes. When? As soon as IU wins something.

Fire the president!!! This was a scam. Bob Knight was put in a position to fail. There has never been a zero tolerance policy set up for success. As a graduate of IU, I am embarrassed. Bob Knight did more for the university than Myles Brand ever will!! I hope the locals force his resignation. The Board of Trustees and Christopher Simpson (the so-called spokesperson) have made a very small thing into a media driven embarrassment for the school and Bob Knight. He deserved so much more.

I'm sure IU will be in everyone's top five this season, all season. Afterall, the media claimed that Knight ruined the great talent he had the last seven or eight seasons he coached. Now that the Big Red Satan is gone, I'm sure IU will go to the top. Right media? Indiana better off without Knight? We'll see.

As a native Hoosier, I would have given anything to be an IU ball player in any capacity … but I cannot help but respect Mr. Geyer for his decision. Under no other coach would a career reserve player gain as much as he has or could have. Honestly, I hoped that the entire team would have transferred or terminated any relationship with the university and its administration.

Hey, I believe that Jarred Jefferies will be the next to leave. He really liked Coach Knight and now that he is gone its is looking good for Jefferies to transfer to Duke.

Indiana will be lucky to go .500 this year. And they will be lucky to be at .500 in the Big Ten. This will be a wasted year for IU basketball. As far as the Bob Knight saga – the saga will continue as long as Brand and Simmons are at IU. As soon as those two hit the road and all the players that played for Knight have graduated, then and only then can IU get on with basketball. If it sounds like I am wrong, then I say just wait and see.
